ComicZeal and SyncDocs

What is SyncDocs?

SyncDocs is the new way to get comics into ComicZeal. It's a wi-fi sync system that's configuration-free. As long as your iPhone/iPod is on the same wi-fi network as the computer running SyncDocs they'll find each other.

SyncDocs is an open-source project that's used in a number of other App Store applications. You will find a link to the download site below.

Installing SyncDocs:

Download the correct version of SyncDocs for your system from the website below.

ComicZeal Creator:
For now you'll have to use the current version of ComicZeal Creator to generate the ComicZeal cbi files. We'll upgrade it to a workflow more friendly with SyncDocs soon.

How to Sync:
Start up SyncDocs on your computer. Drag and drop the comic cbi files you want to send to ComicZeal into the SyncDocs windows.

On your iPhone/iPod start up ComicZeal, press 'Add', press 'sync' and select your SyncDocs server. The sync will start automatically.

There is a limit of 100 comics per sync operation. You can sync as many times as you want though so it's not a limit on the amount of comics you can have on the device.

FAQ:

Q) I run Windows XP or Vista and when I press 'SyncDocs' on my iPhone, it shows the 'What's new in ComicZeal' page but no comics are downloaded. What gives?

A) Check your firewall settings. The PC is allowing SyncDocs to advertise its presence but not allowing the iPhone to connect to it.
